What does it look like to be credible witnesses of the Gospel as we live into our God-created identities—in His image? How can our physical bodies serve as icons pointing to God’s purposes instead of our own?

Walking through “For the Body” by Timothy Tennent (Asbury Theological Seminary President), this class will help guide us on how our view of the human body informs our self-understanding, how we treat others, and how we engage controversial and difficult discussion on human sexuality with gracewisdom, and confidence.

The goal of this class is to develop groundwork for the fruit of the Spirit within us, so we can seek to understand God’s heart for human sexuality in a posture of both compassion and conviction.

The class will function in two parts: a teaching with Pastor Craig and through a video study and table discussion. Forgoing any desire to prove points and answer all questions, this class will provide space to engage a hard and relevant subject to help lay foundation for further conversations with friends, loved ones, co-workers, and neighbors.

The human body has God-given purpose oftentimes misunderstood, and mistreated, causing a lack of awareness of the dangers of objectifying the body, divorcing it from its intended purpose. Tennent offers a robust framework for discipling people in a Christian theology of the body.

starting Jan 12
