God accepts us no matter what. It doesn’t matter what we look like, where we came from, or what we’ve done. God still accepts us despite all of these things, even when we think we aren’t worthy. We might see someone else and judge them based on their appearance. But lucky for us, God doesn’t care what we look like on the outside. He only cares about what’s on the inside. In The Princess and the Frog, Naveen gets mixed up with the shadow man and turns into a frog. At first, Tiana sees Naveen as surface-level, lazy, and greedy. Throughout the movie, she gets to know him better and realizes that he’s genuine, hard-working, and loving. Also, the shadow man’s charming appearance deceives Lawrence and Naveen in a different way. He claims to make their dreams come true, when he’s actually using and manipulating them to gain wealth. God can see past all of these appearances. He looks into our heart to see our true selves. And even if we’ve done bad things, he is here for us, waiting for us to repent and turn to him.
But the Lord said to Samuel, “Do not consider his appearance or his height, for I have rejected him. The Lord does not look at the things that people look at. People look at the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart.”
1 Samuel 16:7 (NIV)
