Serve Globally

The needs in our world compel us to launch out beyond our community. Here are some of our current priorities in global outreach:

Missions Trips

Are you feeling called to MISSIONS?
University Carillon has built relationships with several missionaries and ministries throughout the world – including the Bahamas, Costa Rica, the Dominican Republic, Rwanda, and Kenya.  We are currently involved at several locations in the Dominican Republic and in Cuba, but always looking for God’s calling.  Is God calling you?  If so, come join us.

Please pray for members of our church–and others who are ministering alongside us or in our name—on these trips:

The Dominican Republic

Jackie’s House

Each year we send a missions team to minister at Jackie’s House—private orphanage in the Dominican Republic established by “Tia Jackie and Tio Hernando.” The house ministers to handicapped, abused and neglected children, in Jesus’ name, and regularly provides aid to children who live and work at the local dump.

Jackie’s House relies completely on donations.

DR/Rick Sucher

We have an ongoing relationship with Rick Sucher and his family who are missionaries in the Dominican Republic. Under the auspices of Missionary Ventures, Rick, and his late wife Barb, moved to the city of Sousa where they work with various ministries overseeing a Bible school, administering a children’s feeding program, teaching women to sew for a living, and going door-to-door and pastoring pastors.
We send missions teams to work with the Suchers about once a year.

We send teams as often as possible to minister alongside three “sister churches” in the Holguin province of Cuba.

University Carillon Missionaries

Through our budget, University Carillon supports the following full-time missionaries:

Joan Tungseth: (along with her Cru Prayer Team) seeks to be a prayer covering over our Global Leaders and their teams in order for them to accomplish our global mission of helping to fulfill the Great Commission.  We seek to pray strategically for critical prayer needs of our global movement to help win people to Christ, build them in their faith and send them out to do the same (win, build & send others) in order to see God’s Kingdom built on the earth!

Vern and Iris Cutshall are in their 47th year of serving as missionaries of Cru, formerly Campus Crusade for Christ. They currently assist one of the directors of Cru’s US Technology Team. In this digital age, our team supplies a lot of the backbone to the world-wide ministry, for outreach, innovation, and caring for our staff and volunteers. Iris and Vern are so glad to be ministry partners with University Carillon!

Rich and Ruthie Wiewiora have been serving Jesus Christ through Cru® for over 47 years in the U.S. and overseas. They help build up Christ followers, particularly in the context of small groups and meeting one on one to ground them in knowing and living out God’s Word. In addition, Rich uses his copy-editing skills at Cru’s world headquarters in Orlando, FL, to report on what God is doing through people around the globe, and to encourage and equip others in their journey with God and in their loving witness to others.

Mike and Michelle Chapman have served with Cru (formerly Campus Crusade for Christ) for over 40 years, Mike and Michelle currently serve at Cru’s international headquarters.  Mike works as a missionary journalist/writer for various ministry publications and also does prison ministry two days a week. Michelle is on Cru’s corporate events team, hosting 9-10 events and outreaches a year both to encourage the 1000 Cru staff who work there, and also reach the community with the Good News of Jesus.

James is working as part of a Business as Mission (BAM) Team in the Middle East. His team works as an incubator of new ideas and BAM projects in the country, as well as the region. We are working alongside a church plant in our city, discipling believers and equipping them to live out their faith, building the kingdom of God through our cafe and coffee roasting business and exporting business.

Angel Chapman: Has worked on staff with the Navigators at UCF the last two years and get to see and join in on what the Lord is doing on college campus.  A big part of her job is getting to start spiritual conversations with both believers and non-believers and stepping into hard questions that students have had about faith and search the word together. Angel invests in girls’ lives by showing them what it is like to walk with Jesus and have a relationship with Him through studying the word and through prayer. Angel gets to teach them what it looks like to do this with other girls they know to start making disciples and creating spiritual generations.

Barrett and Dyna Brown: Dayna serves as the nurse at our staff conferences, and volunteers at a free clinic for the uninsured (during non-covid times).   Currently Barrett serves under the leadership of our CFO to come alongside ministry leaders to help them tie their work to a strong strategic direction.  We work on team effectiveness, leadership development, and resource development.  We work to help different ministries in Cru increase their effectiveness in bringing the gospel to the lost.

Mike and Amy Whipple:  The Whipples are serving with the campus ministry of Cru. Currently Mike serves as a National Director helping with Strategic Partnering and Evangelistic Initiatives. Much of our time is spent in efforts to mobilize young people in their relationship with God and into His mission here at home and abroad.  Our motivating passion is to mobilize the next generation in their faith and equip th
