Main Idea

God can show up in our lives in ways that we don’t expect. He knows what is best for us. As a result, when we ask Him for things, He may not show up exactly as we would want or imagine. Rather, He shows up and answers prayers as we NEED. In the movie, Carl is seen living a lonely life until he gets bothered by wilderness explorer Russell. Russell ends up taking him on an adventure that changes both of their lives for the better. Similarly, if we trust God to fulfill our prayers, He will answer them in a way that is often better than we could imagine.

Scripture

1 Now Moses was tending the flock of Jethro his father-in-law, the priest of Midian, and he led the flock to the far side of the wilderness and came to Horeb, the mountain of God.
2 There the angel of the LORD appeared to him in flames of fire from within a bush. Moses saw that though the bush was on fire it did not burn up.
3 So Moses thought, “I will go over and see this strange sight—why the bush does not burn up.”
4 When the LORD saw that he had gone over to look, God called to him from within the bush, “Moses! Moses!” And Moses said, “Here I am.”
5 “Do not come any closer,” God said. “Take off your sandals, for the place where you are standing is holy ground.”
6 Then he said, “I am the God of your father, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac and the God of Jacob.” At this, Moses hid his face, because he was afraid to look at God.
Exodus 3:1-6 (NIRV)

18 One day Jesus was walking beside the Sea of Galilee. There he saw two brothers. They were Simon Peter and his brother Andrew. They were throwing a net into the lake. They were fishermen.
19 “Come. Follow me,” Jesus said. “I will make you fishers of people.”
20 At once they left their nets and followed him.
21 Going on from there, he saw two other brothers. They were James, son of Zebedee, and his brother John. They were in a boat with their father Zebedee. As they were preparing their nets, Jesus called out to them.
22 Right away they left the boat and their father and followed Jesus.
Matthew 4:18-22 (NIRV)
