For many, the Christmas season is both hopeful and heavy … but the excitement and busyness of the season rarely affords space to acknowledge that. Blue Christmas is a type of gathering historically held on the winter solstice—the longest night and shortest day of the year—in recognition of the darkness and loneliness that many carry into this season of light.

We will be gathering right before the winter solstice for a simple service designed to acknowledge Jesus’ place in the “both/and”—the hopeful and the heavy, the joy and the loss, the celebration and the grief.

All are welcome.

Christmas in the City is HOPE’s largest outreach event of the year. This event was created in 2008 in partnership with HOPE’s Interfaith Coalition, giving hundreds of families in need the opportunity to choose gifts for their children ages 0-18.

There will be toys, games, gift cards, blankets, books, pants, new socks and underwear, and even stocking stuffers! Once the parents have selected gifts, they are reunited with their children who have been making crafts and visiting Santa. The family then receives a professional family portrait, a bag of food including holiday goodies, free lunch, and the opportunity to visit prayer tables and a variety of local partner resource agencies.

Your help is needed! Visit hopehelps.org/christmas-in-the-city for volunteer opportunities.

The Wisdom and Wellness group is a ministry for older adults designed to provide a supportive community as you mature through the next chapter in your life. This group offers fellowship, practical support, learning opportunities, and spiritual growth. Activities include guest speakers, small group discussions, creative arts, and exercise.

Celebrate the birth of our Savior, Jesus Christ.

To a little town of no great renown, the Lord kept a promise … that a mighty King would come—an Anointed One, a Messiah, a Savior. And though a triumphant entrance was expected, the Lord—in His grace and mercy—answered humanity’s (and Israel’s) longing for more … in the cry of a baby: God’s plan to save the world.

Join us as we celebrate this wonderful gift of Heaven: Jesus Christ. Emmanuel—God with us.

What do s’mores, Christmas carols, fire pits, free food and plenty of fun and games mean? It means welcoming you back to Campfire Christmas!

On Friday, December 22 from 5:30 – 8 PM we’ll be outside on University Carillon’s field by the pond roasting marshmallows, singing Christmas carols, hanging out with miniature horses and playing games to prepare our hearts for the gift of Christmas.

Best of all, it’s FREE. All you have to do is bring some friends and family, and either lawn chairs or picnic blankets and we’ll take care of the rest.

For more info, contact communications@universitycarillon.net

Campfire Christmas is a HUGE event (800-1,100 people in attendance), and we need a ton of hands to help make it happen. So parents, grandparents, EPIC students, Prodigal college students, friends: check out this sign-up link to sign up for a shift. Your shift can be as short as an hour, so you can still enjoy festivities for the rest of the time!

If you see a time slot open, feel free to sign up. While some ministries are “heading up” certain stations, you can volunteer at any station. Thank you!
