Parenting Together (led by Pastor Craig & Jesse Bachman) — 7 weeks
Partnering with Jesus and each other to parent with the end in mind.
Sometimes it takes becoming a parent to know how to be a child of God … and we want to help you lean into that truth by parenting together: with each other, the church and Jesus. It takes a village, and we want to invite you into ours.
Come for dinner, drop off the kids and connect with your spouse and other parents. Open to all families (married, divorced, grandparents, single, etc.). This is not a class that promises to have answers for all questions, but a judgement-free space where all questions can be asked. We believe that we are better parents when we don’t try to do it alone.
Journey Through Psalms (led by Pastor Chris) – 8 weeks
COST: $15 (for the book)
The book of Psalms is well-known and well-worn. It is the Old Testament book most often quoted in the New Testament, and its quotations can be found everywhere from John Milton to Star Trek to Congressional speeches. Why so much attention? The church father Athanasius said it best–most of Scripture speaks to us, but the book of Psalms speaks for us.
Experience fresh connections to contemporary worship and devotional practices in this eight-session video-based study with well-known scholar Sandra Richter. Indulge in the biblical study of the Psalms, letting Sandra do the heavy lifting of research and translation, which in turn allows you to engage the Bible in a deeply sensitive way.
This study will help you answer the ever-present question, “so what does this have to do with me today?”
The study involves two components. Each participant will be working at home at their own pace, doing as much or as little as schedules permit. Once per week your group will gather to view the filmed study, talk about the individual work from the week, focus on some group discussion questions and build community.
You will discover:
- How to bridge the gap between the culture and practices of ancient Israel and today
- How you can trust God with all your emotions: grief, anger, praise, fear, and hope
- How and why the people of Israel used the Psalms in worship
- Why the book of Psalms is critical in our devotional lives today
- How the Psalms can empower your prayer life
Going Deeper: “Canyon” Series (led by Pastor Jamie) – 11 weeks
COST: None; helpful to buy the book HERE.
Following up and going deeper in the church-wide “Canyon” sermon series through the Celebration of Discipline by Richard J. Foster.
Whether you’ve been on the path of spiritual formation for many years, or you want to get started now, this opportunity is for you. We will explore the spiritual disciplines that have helped form followers of Jesus through history.
FULL — Emotionally Healthy Spirituality (led by Phil Coleman) – 8 weeks (limited seats)
COST: $30 for the book, devotional and workbook
A road map for discipleship with Jesus that is powerfully transformative.
Peter Scazzero learned the hard way: you can’t be spiritually mature while remaining emotionally immature. Even though he was the pastor of a growing church, he did what most people do—avoid conflict in the name of Christianity; ignore his anger, sadness, and fear; use God to run from God; and live without boundaries.
This study will help biblically integrate the emotional health and the spiritual practice of slowing down and quieting your life for to experience a firsthand relationship with Jesus.
In this study, we’ll look at seven biblical, reality-tested steps to become emotionally mature:
- Become your authentic self
- Break the power of the past
- Let go of power and control
- Surrender to your limits
- Stop to breathe by practicing rest and Sabbath
- Learn new skills to love well
Love Christ above all else
